About In the Mists

In the Mists is named for a cycle of piano pieces by the Czech composer Leos Janacek. Apart from it being a neatly poetic title, we thought it summed up the purpose of this blog rather well; namely to write about things that are perhaps a little vague, unusual or esoteric but might just be interesting as well - provided they have a generally musical leaning. It's also going to be a jotting-pad for sharing thoughts about my own compositions and musical projects, and the occasional bit of irrelevant nonsense. Whatever happens, we pledge to maintain the levels of interesting-ness in whatever subject we touch upon.

About Me

Simon W
I am a cellist, composer and general musician, and also play several other instruments badly. According to my biography I also 'enjoy long walks and explosively hot curries'. For the purpose of this blog, however, I will mostly be donning my composer's hat.
